This
is our first excursion, we went to Vigan with Ma’am Jeanette, Ma’am Imelda, 20
participants from the
SEA Teacher and SEA TVET,
and 5 participants of ERASMUS. We waited for our pick up by the MMSU bus at 7 am in the Mansion. Our first
destination is RG Jar Factory located at Gomez
St, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur and we
arrived at 10 am. There’s a lot of
jar made by clay and water. We can
make or
create our own jar. Yeyen, my friend from UNDIKSHA Bali try to make his own jar.
After
that, we went to
the Hidden Garden located
in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines and we arrived at 11 am. There’s a lot of plants like flowers and trees. There are so many spots for
us to take a picture and the place is so
beautiful and refreshing because the fresh air. In front of the garden, we can put our money on the statue and make a
wish.
There is also a store for us to buy souvenirs.
Our
next destination is Baluarte (Safari Garden) located in Vigan, Ilocos Sur were we arrived at 12 pm. Before we enter to Baluarte, we took our lunch first. We tried eating squid and fish and it taste so good.
After eating, we bought some souvenirs for our family and friends in Indonesia such us
wallet, pencil case, bag and keychain. After buying souvenirs, we immediately took our
tour to
Baluarte and there is no entrance fee. I see a lot of animals such as birds, tigers, horses, pony, and
ostrichs.
Next
destination is Vigan, one of the
historical place in the Philippines and we arrived at 2 pm. Vigan is magandang
lugar (beautiful place) and there are so many souvenir stores located in every corner and Kalesa (a horse drawn calash)
is all over the place.
There’s a lot of Spanish buildings like the Vigan
Church and
other beautiful spots to take a picture with it. Although I am very pagod (tired) but I still enjoy this excursion.
Before
we continue our trip, we took our snacks called “miki”, a noodle soup made with
miki noodles, chicken stock, annatto powder, boiled egg, and etc. Ma’am Imelda
and Ma’am Jeanette are very kind because they paid for our snacks.
Our
last destination is
the TAN-OK Festival held at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Stadium, Ilocos Norte and we arrived at 6 pm. We waited at the College of Teacher Education (Laoag Campus) because the TAN-OK Festival will start at 7 pm and will end at 1 am. Before watching the festival, we bought some foods in 7 Eleven. Sir JayPee
gave us free tickets and we got a VIP pass where we can stay at the front seat of the
festival for us to watch the performances nearly. All of the region from Ilocos Norte will perform in this festival. Every participants wear their traditional costumes, perform their
different cultures and endorse their own products in their locality. That was a beautiful performance I ever
watched because the decoration is so colorful and
their costumes are so unique. They perform well on the stage, were everybody
can sing, act and dance so well. The
stadium was very crowded because there’s a lot of people
attend
in order to watch the most highlight festival of the region.
